Welcome to New Age Bodywork! I’m TJ, a licensed massage therapist based in the heart of Millcreek, Utah. I specialize in fascia-focused bodywork like myofascial release and somatic therapies—techniques that go beyond surface-level relief to address chronic tension and restore balance throughout the body.
My passion is helping clients feel safe, grounded, and free in their own skin. Every session is designed to support the connection between mind and body, creating space for both release and renewal.
Outside the treatment room, I share my life with my husband, two playful dogs, and one very curious cat. To me, wellness is more than what happens on the table—it’s about finding joy in everyday moments. I’d love to invite you on this journey of healing, where each session becomes an opportunity for rejuvenation and self-discovery.

How Fascia Stores Emotions, And What to do About it:
Okay. Here's the spiel. Many of you have already heard it, and now, you can read it too!
Fascia.
This complex system is considered a connective tissue, but it's WAY more than that. This is a fiber-optic network that exists throughout your ENTIRE body! Let's get into what it does for us and why.
Fascia has a very fascinating ability to go from a solid to gel to liquid. It can be softened into a gel or liquid through heat, pressure, or friction (hence massage). While fascia does so many things for our structure and everyday function, today I want to talk specifically about trauma.
Fascia acts as a trauma response for our bodies! When we experience trauma (emotional or physical), your fascia begins to cinch down, solidify, and crush the body. It does this to slow blood flow (so you don't bleed out) and to numb nerves (so you don't feel as much pain). This is called a myofascial restriction.
In the wild, animals release these restrictions by shaking vigorously. Humans, however, have complex emotions instead. When we don't process emotions, the trauma stays stored in the fiber-optic network (fascia) and continues to restrict the body.
That's where you come and see me!
During our sessions, we locate myofascial restrictions and start to release them! This is why emotional release can happen during massage sessions. The feelings, memories, emotions, and trauma that have been stored in this restriction are released causing big feelings or even flashbacks!
Now, releasing the restriction isn't a one and done. This is trauma we are talking about afterall! The fascia holds onto that memory and needs to be re-trained into believing that it is not experiencing that trauma anymore. This can take months or even years! Consistency is KEY to getting a full release.
Try this at home: Myofascial unwinding
You can start to unwind myofascial binding at home too! You know when you wake up in the morning and you have a natural instinct to stretch? This stretching is myofascial unwinding! Start by relaxing into your body and begin to move and stretch in a way that feels correct. It may feel weird to do this interpretive dance type movement but I PROMISE you will feel so good after! Let me know how it went!
Anyway… Goodbye!!
Much love,
-TJ
